Kingston Communications joins ICRA to help make the internet safer for children
Company to provide ICRA website hosting and maintenance
Hull, UK, 14 July 2006. KINGSTON Communications has today announced that it has signed up as a member of the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA), the non-profit organisation that exists to create a safer Internet environment. Kingston joins other major Internet and communications companies in working with one of the worlds leading self-regulatory efforts on the Web.
As part of its membership role, Kingston is hosting and managing ICRAs presence on the Internet. "We have worked with ICRA for a number of years and have recently expanded the support we provide to them," says Philip Raddon, Group IT Director at Kingston Communications. "We were keen to use our expertise and hosting facilities to help ICRA in its work to protect vulnerable people from unsuitable content on the Web."
Kingstons membership underlines the increasing importance of child safety on the Internet. As a national provider of broadband in the UK, our company is committed to helping parents protect their children from objectionable material. Kingston is also a member of the Internet Watch Foundation, the UK body designed to track and remove illegal Internet content.
"We are pleased to welcome Kingston as an ICRA member," said Stephen Balkam, CEO of ICRA. "Kingston is a valuable partner in our mission to promote child safety online while promoting the free flow of digital content."
ICRA is an international, non-profit membership organisation with offices in the US and the UK, along with representatives in both Germany and Spain. ICRAs members include AOL, AT&T, British Telecom, CompTIA, GSM Association, Solarsoft, Microsoft, T-Online and Verizon. Over 200,000 Web sites worldwide have already self-labelled, including such brand names as MSN, AOL, Yahoo, T-Online and Hustler, representing millions of Web pages.
