Akio Kokubu is Executive Director of Electronic Network Consortium since 1992, where he has been working on issues of intellectual property rights, content self-regulation and privacy protection on the Internet in Japan.

He worked on architecture of computer systems with the Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL), Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, Japan for more than twenty years. He was Researcher at Centre Mondial Informatique in Paris (1982), Visiting Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University (1973-1974).
