18th January 2005 Ofcom Audio Visual Content Information Working Group

ICRA's CEO, Stephen Balkam, will join a cross-media working group being set up to investigate how viewers prefer to receive information about the nature of challenging content at the point of choice in the digital age.

In the recent Statement on the Strategy and Priorities for the Promotion of Media Literacy, the UK regulator, Ofcom, set out their continued support for the need to provide viewers and listeners with adequate information about the nature of content so that they can make informed choices about their and their family’s viewing and listening. This working group has been set up with representatives from across the media spectrum to establish how best to take this important area of media literacy forward.
