How do I test my label?

ICRA provides a tool that visits your site and tests the labels. If there are problems, the tool attempts to diagnose the situation and provide useful feedback. There are three basic types of response:

amber

Green light: Congratulations - as far as the label tester is able to tell, your site is fully labelled with ICRA.

amber

Amber light: Strictly speaking, all resources on your website, including images, stylesheets and everything else should be labelled. In some situations it's possible that although the page itself is labelled, there are elements with the page, perhaps an image pulled from another site or some banner advertising, that is not labelled.

If you select the strict rules option on the label tester and you get an amber light it means that the actual URL you entered is labelled; however, there are some elements that are not labelled. In some circumstances this can cause false block messages on filtering software.

amber

Red light: Either the label tester is unable to find any labels at all, or the labels found have some errors. The syntax of the labels is very specific and a small error can lead to the label being rejected.

Another common problem is that while the link tag itself is fine, the surrounding code may be corrupted in some way. Problems with other parts of the source code can make it impossible for the label tester (and filtering clients) to correctly identify the tag linking your content to the label file.
